Installing Tandem Server CMS

Windows Platform, IIS 6+, ASP.NET 3.5, Medium Trust Mode or Higher, Webroot level Read/Write Permissions.

Windows Platform, IIS 7+, ASP.NET 4, Medium Trust Mode or Higher, Webroot level Read/Write Permissions.

Download the latest version of Tandem Server from http://tandemserver.org and unzip the downloaded file (TandemServer_XXXXXX.zip) to your desktop.

Read the End User License Agreement (EULA) document and READ_ME.txt file.

FTP/Copy the contents of the “Webroot” folder to your website root “http://yoursite.com ”. After copying these files/folders to your website, open an internet browser to http://yoursite.com/install. This will install Tandem Server on your website. After installing, follow the instructions on the installation page. Tandem Server is now ready to use.

Setup a custom 404 (file not found) page in IIS to point to the “FileNotFound.aspx” page in the root of your website “http://yoursite.com/filenotfound.aspx”. Contact you hosting company if you are not sure how to do this. Setting up this 404 page is not necessary for Tandem Server to run, you only need to set this up if you want to take advantage of Tandem Server’s SEO URL feature where you can give your page URLs a friendly name i.e. http://yoursite.com/contactus instead of the default URL of http://yoursite.com/default.aspx?pageid=2.

If you cannot give the root of your website read/write permissions then the installer will not be able to install files in the root of your website. This is the case with hosting companies that lock down your websites; such as godaddy.

Should you need to do a manual install then you will need to do this step instead of step 3. Instead of FTP'ing the contents of the webroot folder, rename the TandemServer.ts file to TandemServer.zip then unzip that file and copy the contents to your webroot. This is what the installer does when it installs your website.
